A Loving Mother and Son Starred in a TV Commercial Yesterday and the World Didn't Come to an End

Well, it looks like Focus on the Family and Tim TeBow had the last laugh on the radical feminists who went into spasms because pro-lifers were allowed to exercise their free speech on the SuperBowl broadcast. The average person is going to look at this ad and be absolutely astonished that NOW and the rest of the feminist loony fringe got all upset about it. Jill Stanek has some good comments and a link to the ad here.

NOW President Terry O'Neill is quoted in the Los Angeles Times as follows:
"NOW president Terry O'Neill said it glorified violence against women. "I am blown away at the celebration of the violence against women in it," she said. "That's what comes across to me even more strongly than the anti-abortion message. I myself am a survivor of domestic violence, and I don't find it charming. I think CBS should be ashamed of itself."
I have two comments about this quote. First, you can't make this stuff up and you can't buy this kind of publicity. If NOW and their loony left allies had just kept quiet, the impact of the ad would be one tenth of what it has been. It almost seems like O'Neill is a Focus on the Family secret agent working to undermine the pro-abortion cause! Second, the same woman who think tearing fetuses limb from limb is just fine also thinks that a son affectionately roughhousing with his mother is terrible violence. I'm not sure which opinion is more stupid; I think it might be time to call in the men with white coats.

If you visit the Focus on the Family site, you can get more of the TeBow story. Obviously, Focus played this one cool and smart and got a lot of milage out of this ad. Every penny they spent was well worth it, especially since the impact was so magnified by the controversy. The other side looks befuddled and out of touch. If the pro-life side is ever going to prevail, this is the way it will happen.
